ABOUT ME
I am a Brisbane based Artist working from "Harrier's Nest Art Studio' located in the peaceful bush surrounds of Upper Kedron.
Art has been a big part of my life, with my parents nurturing my creativity from a young age. Migrating to Australia in 1987, I studied and worked as an Interior Designer before starting a family. In 2007 I rediscovered my childhood love of art after a health scare. Painting has been vital to my healing, while the friendships I have made through art have enriched my life.
Colour and composition are integral to my art. I love colour as it sets the tone and livens the painting, while strong lines and shapes give structure and balance. My style is complimented and influenced by my design background. I enjoy working with oils on canvas, but have also painted in acrylics, water colour and pastel. Mixed media and collage interest me as well.
I am inspired by my surrounds, often attracted to shapes and textures I see. My combined love of travel and architecture is evident in my art work, with European cities I've visited a favourite theme. In recent times, I have re-discovered my love of Australian landscapes. I also enjoy the challenge of capturing the likeness in portraits and still life. I draw inspiration from the great Impressionists.
Art gives me great joy and I wish to share this enjoyment with others. If you would like any of my artworks to brighten your home or workplace, I would love to hear from you. Commissions for portraits or any other subject are always welcome. Please see the Contact page for details.
